As I expected, Hovind didn't want to debate biblical inerrancy. Strangely
enough, he said that if he did try to debate inerrancy he would be coming in
blind because he has not prepared himself on the subject of biblical
inerrancy, and I have. Yet he didn't seem to think that there was anything
wrong with his demand that a specialist on biblical inerrancy debate
evolution with someone whose whole life is dedicated to preaching
creationism. We wound up discussing primarily the Genesis account of
creation, and when he made the typical claim of a universe that was created
by a god existing outside of time and space, I challenged him to explain how
it would be at all possible for anything immaterial to exist separate and
apart from materiality and how that an entity existing outside of time would
ever be able to do anything, since "doing" requires the utilization of time
to begin an act and end it. He evaded the challenge, but I kept bringing
him back to it, and finally he admitted that he couldn't actually prove
either one; they were just beliefs that were a part of his religion. He
then quickly added that belief in evolution was my religion.
At any rate, Eric Bach, who is a member of this list, lives in Bloomington,
the town where the program originated, and he has informed me that he taped
the program and edited out the commercials. So copies will be available
later. Please wait until I confirm that I have a tape to copy from before
you request your own copies.
