I would be more than happy to explain my conduct (for my own personal
reasons, could you please send me the e-mail Till sent you naming me as
the forwarder? Thanks).
In the simplest terms, I wanted both sides to know how I felt about the
ongoing debate. Previously, I sent the CCBE a posting on 11 October 1998
([ccbe] Re: Delayed Responses from F.Till). I admitted to you that I
had misread the initial post by you. The gist of the posting was merely
that it was becoming impossible to respond to any so-called
errancy/inerrancy posts because of the incessant arguing ocurring on
both sides, and that I would respond to any errancy postings (via CCBE)
once both parties cleared matters up. The private e-mail I sent to Till
(along with your current "validation" questionnaire) was to express my
own frustration. At no point before your 3rd questionnaire had I
forwarded anything to Till.
Surely from the 11 October posting you could see the frustration, and
apparently I am not alone amongst the other CCBE members (based on
postings to both CCBE and Errancy). In essence it is you, not Till, that
I feel is evading the argument at hand (i.e., re:
Blood/Water/Magician). From my own viewpoint, even as a Christian, I
cannot see the evidence where you accuse Till of being the evader. I
know this does not sit well with you or perhaps some of the others on
the CCBE list.
But I see what I see. In light of all the other postings to Errancy from
other CCBE members, I felt I needed to say something too. There is a
witch-hunt going on in CCBE as well as accusations of collusion. I could
not stand by as the "silent" participant. Something needed to be done
to move things along as at this point both sides are simply tossing back
and forth accusations, whether well-founded or paranoid. You choose.
The fact of the matter is that both sides need to move on and get to the
point, that of the argument at hand.
I have stated my point to both sides, and that is where I will stop. It
is late, my thoughts may not be quite as coherent as I would like them
to be, but I have answered and told all what I feel. I realise at this
time that I will probably be removed from your list; so be it. I came
here (to CCBE) simply to learn. And I have. But it wasn't quite the
experience I expected. Keep fighting the good fight, Matt, I see in you
the passion to stand up for what you believe. Don't let it slide into
petty arguments.
