If you accept that killing in war by the defensive/offended party is
justified and lawful then you have to consider whether the acts
against Amalek were such, i.e. acts of war by the defensive party
(Amalek first attacked Israel), and therefore justified and lawful
killings.

Acts of defense? Defense against what? Something Amalek did 400
before? Read verse two of 1Sam 15 Matt:

2  Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I remember that which Amalek did to
Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came up from
Egypt.
3  Now go and smite Amalek...

That wasn't a defensve war, it was a retaliatory strike which included
infant and suckling who had committed no wrong against Israel. THIS is
your just god?
