HEATH
The Law was completely written out in the OT (in the first 5 books), but man
failed to follow it.  Instead they made their own laws and ignored the true
Law.  Jesus show this in Matthew:

Well you've been chastised enough for preaching, so I won't add anything to
that. I will mention that most people here are more impressed by reasoning
that doesn't assume the accuracy of the Bible; if we are to assume that
there is little to discuss.

One other point, on this list since many people can get involved in a
discussion, we ask that you label your quotes and the ones you are
responding to in the fashion I have above.

I'd like to add parenthetically: Why is it that so many of the Christian
apologists sound like nothing more than poorly-coded Eliza programs? You
know, the old AI trick where if you mentioned the word "mom" the program
would respond: "Tell me about your childhood." I say the word, "Law" and I
get a regurgitated sermon.

Now, Heath, the problem is that your response does nothing to show why Jesus
sacrifice is necessary, nor explain the Christian notion of original sin,
nor the Christian notion that any sin of any sort renders one hell-bound.
The Book of Jonah, the rest of the passages quoted by Nancy, and the quotes
from Ezekiel I mentioned show that the concept of forgiveness already exists
in the Old Testament, so if was possible to be forgiven within the context
of the Old Covenant, why was it necessary for God to institute a new one?
Why is it that just because there were some hypocritical Pharisees wandering
around that God had to allow himself to be sacrificed to himself? It just
doesn't make any sense. There are plenty of hypocritical Christians running
around today, should God change the rules again?

Here's hoping you can make a better showing than the last batch of
apologists we've had through here.
