I get some answers and give some replies

HEATH
So what would I need in you mind? Archeology?

POOBAH
Ummm... Are you aware of any archeological discoveries that show evidence of
a global Flood? Are you any archeological discoveries showing evidence of an
Exodus? Are you aware of any archeological discoveries that show a 6000 year
old earth? Are you aware of any archeological discoveries that show that
people used to live hundreds of years? If so, we're all ears. If not, I'm
afraid that the weight of archeological evidence is on the side of the
skeptic.

HEATH
Scientific fact revealed in the Bible thousands of years before its time?

POOBAH
I hear ya; science still hasn't admitted that rabbits chew their cud or that
insects have four legs, that blindness can be cured by spitting in people's
eyes, that there were dinosaurs running around in Eden, or that the earth is
a flat circle with a dome above it that keeps the water out.

HEATH
I need to know what would prove to you that the Bible is God's Word.

POOBAH
Well let's start with the above. Why don't you start by giving us a date for
a global flood?

HEATH
Just remember that arguement can go both ways. To prove Jesus didn't rise
from the grave I can say
archeology must find the stone in front of the cave to disprove He rose from
the dead.

POOBAH
Well you can say that, but you would be committing the logical fallacy known
as "argument from ignorance." A skeptic is not required to disprove your
position, you are required to prove it. In absence of such evidence, the
logical default position is lack of belief.

HEATH
Science has very little concrete proof on most scientific "theories".
Remember, it is still Darwin's Theory, not Darwin's LAW.

POOBAH
Go read a science book and tell me what theory means in a scientific
context.

HEATH
And even the scientist who discovered carbon dating knew it was inherently
innacurate past a few hundred years because of the earth's naturally
weakening (or decaying) magnetic field.

POOBAH
Oh gawd. This is loonier than I thought. Pray tell give me evidence that the
radioactive decay of carbon-14 atoms is dependent on the earth's magnetic
field. I don't want a quote from some lying creationist tract, but a science
textbook would be fine.

HEATH
Pick your basis for proof and we can both (hopefully) have a rational
discussion there.

POOBAH
Why is it, Heath, that you decided to become a Christian instead of a
Muslim? Are you aware that many Muslims believe that the Koran is the
inerrant, inspired word of God? Surely they must be wrong; why is that,
exactly? Please answer rationally without begging the question of Biblical
accuracy.
