We could look at archaeology. Any
evidence for the existence of any of the different kinds of people described
in the Book of Mormon is non-existent(at least at this time). Evidence of
this kind does exist for both the Old and New testaments. What is available
to historians in the case of the NT and what is available to historians
concerning the BoM are different. One bears ancient testimony(whether you
or I accept that testimony is another topic) and the other bears modern
terstiomy.
POOBAH
Oh really? Where is the archeological evidence for the Nephilim? Or people
who lived hundreds of years?
Care to tell us when the flood occurred? Or the Exodus? And what evidence
there is? And deal with the contra-evidence that clearly shows that neither
event occurred in the manner described?
The fact is that archeology has disproved many claims of the Bible, both Old
& New Testament.

Recently a scroll fragment from around 62 A.D. has come to light which
certain papyrologists have argued to be that of Mark 6:52-53(7Q5).
Fragments from Matthew 26 have also been redated to be no later than about
68 A.D. Those who argue against such redating have not done so based upon
the epigraphical or papyrological evidence, but upon the personally held
view that they COULD NOT be of the first century.(real critical right?)
POOBAH
I'm calling bullshit here. I think you're projecting. Evidence please that
the critics of the early dating of fragments that the supporters read like
some ink-blot test are not arguing based on evidence, but on presupposition.

It has never been shown that it is logically impossible for God to exist.
POOBAH
If by God you mean Jehovah of the Bible, then yes it has. It's just as
logically impossible for a being to be both omniscient & omnipotent as it is
for him to make a rock so big he can't move it. The Problem of Evil is also
a problem.
Nonetheless, it's your job to show God exists, not others to disprove it -
check that, that would be your job on another list. Your job here is to show
that the Bible is accurate. Care to try?
Race
I'm not misinformed, I just know that I cannot rule out events because of
my preconceptions. I never said that miraculous events from other
religions, including Mormonism didn't occur. Such a discussion, as I have
said would take us into a theological area where a being called Satan is
real and spiritual deception is his fortee.
POOBAH
You are quite simply a liar here. You believe Christian & biblical miracles
because they fit your world view, and you disregard others as counterfeit or
the work of the Devil because it meets your presuppositions. But prove me
wrong: Why don't you tell us which non-Christian miracles you've studied
that you believe occurred and what criteria you apply to determine this.
Then why don't you tell us what criteria you apply to Christian miracles to
decide which ones really occurred, and why. Then why don't you tell us how
you determine if a "miracle" is performed by the Devil or instead by Allah,
Krishna, et. al. as claimed by the witness without first begging the
question of Biblical errancy.
Your ignoring of this request will be taken as meaning that you're full of
it, and can't answer the question, and that you engage in circular reasoning
& special pleading when it comes to the Bible.
